Excellent article and interview ladies! I find it so interesting to note the similarities and differences in other people's lives abroad. Can I add another question? Out of all the places you've lived, Katherina, where have you felt the most at home and why?

That's a great question!! I felt the most at home in Canada. The "why" is a good question. I think it really spoke to my values - I felt free there. Other reasons were the endless blue skies (Alberta gets so much sun throughout the year!) and the friendliness of the people.

Oh nice! Funny cuz that's where I'm from and I never felt at home there. Although I never lived in Alberta. Whereabouts did you live there?

Isn't it so interesting how one person can feel so at home somewhere and someone else doesn't feel the same in the exact same place. I lived in Calgary and loved having such great access to the Rocky Mountains. That's honestly what made me so happy!

Oooo yes I wanted to live in Calgary when I was younger. That might've been cool! Glad you felt so at home there. And being near the Rockies, what a dream.

Love the discussion here! Also, coming in here to say… what an interesting point you made, Kat! the irony of expat hood is feeling more at home in another person’s home country than your own. I know I’ve felt that when I moved to Aus. It was like my soul recognised it instantly. Yet, I know many Aussies who moved to the states who felt more at home there.

Love this! I clicked on the form to fill to share a bit of my story. Do you think you can update the link so that it can be accessible to everyone and not have to be logged into Google to fill it out?

That’s a great question. Right now google forms is the most accessible way for me to collect the data. I’ll message you and you can send me through your answers manually 🩷

thank you for your reply! You can actually just go in and change your form settings, so that users don’t have to be logged into their Google account (if they have one) to fill out the form.

The issue is one of the questions requires people to upload an image of themselves and that feature requires a google account 🥲 so I’d have to get rid of that prompt for me to make the form accessible to any user
